Winter wanders with Fern, found us in streams and valleys where rocks are tumbled, chalky and exposed. After testing and collecting a handful of soft pigmented rocks, I crush, grind and mill the pigment down to a dust.

This is where I combine with drops of nut oil, alchohol or thickening mediums to grate an oil paint, paste or wash.

Here is an insight into the process.
